Merry Christmas from everyone here at Hudson Yacht & Marine!
The year seems to have flown by but what a year it has been! The HH66 series got into full swing with five boats now in production and boat #1 fast approaching completion. HH Catamarans began building the first HH55 and we also introduced a big (very big) new addition to the family in the form of the HH88.
Paul Hakes and Hudson Wang were busy globe trotting, exhibiting and selling boats whilst also promoting our latest project; the Hudson 48 Powercat which just last month made her American début over in Florida - more on this below
For now though, lets take a closer look at everything that's been happening with us here is Hudson Yacht & Marine.
Production began on HH66 #1 at the very end of 2014 and it is now, one year later, only a few months away from completion and launch day. We can't wait to finally see her in the water with wind in her sails. The last of her 9 clear coats on her F1 style carbon hull was completed last week and she is now out of the paint booth and undergoing her final fitout. Everyday she is looking more and more like a finished vessel. Boat #2 is next in the paint booth and boats #3 and #4 are not far behind.
HH55 #1 went into production this month with the hull ready to be de-moulded (builder enthusiasts can see a short clip of our hull infusion process here at our Instagram page). Her owners paid us a visit last week to check on production. They were able to get a real hands on feel for the boat's interiors with out full sized wooden mock up. The 55 is a luxury catamaran designed to be easily handled by a couple rather than requiring a full crew. Work will begin on boat #2 in a few weeks time. As usual, we will keep you updated on the progress over the next year via our HH-Cats facebook page and new Instagram feed so be sure to keep an eye out for our latest posts.
As for the HH88; the final touches are being made to the preliminary designs of our newest boat. For now though, here is a sneak peek at a rendering of the gorgeous walk around king sized bed from the owner's cabin. Pure luxury.
Hudson 48 Powercat
Fresh from her boat show début into the USA, the Hudson 48 Powercat was a unanimous hit. Many people that came aboard were staggered by the beauty of the new design and its modern layout and remarked upon the clever use of space, the lovely natural light and, a particular talking point, the outstanding quality of the walnut finish. We felt incredibly proud and we were very much encouraged by all the kind comments. We now look forward to plenty of boat orders over the coming months. If you are interested in arranging a sea trial, please contact either us here at Hudson Yachts or Dan Sammis at Dennison Yachts. During the same month Hudson Yacht and Marine proudly announced our acquisition of Jaguar Catamaran International (here). Jaguar will continue to represent us throughout Europe and this gives them greater resource and allows us to bring our new planned models into the market next year.
The King's Cup Regatta, Phuket, Thailand, was held last week and Airplay RAW #1, with her gleaming new golden hull, returned to compete. She and her crew sailed 500 miles north out of Singapore all the way into Thailand. The week long races began on the 7th and although competition was high RAW #1 performed well. Next year you will be able to see this spectacular boat in all her golden glory at the Nongsa Point Regatta in Indonesia, from January 27th onwards. Until then, keep an eye out for RAW #1 and other Airplay trimaran news in on our facebook page.
The HH42 boat #3 better known as Simply Fun, will be attending in the Festival of Sails next month, competing in Geelong race week. Geelong has over 15 different race series' catering from the highest performance Grand Prix racers to trailable cruisers. The varied race action is sure to offer something for everyone and spectators will certainly not be disappointed. Elsewhere, boat number 5 is in Annapolis and is available for sea trials. Contact us or Glenn Walters at Bluenose Yachts for more information. Be sure to hop on to our facebook page for race results and all other HH42 related news and photos.
The Xm80 continues to be a popular choice for local yachtsmen here in Xiamen and it's not hard to see why. This model is fast, fun, tough and safe. Boat #6 sailed out of the factory at tend of last month, under an unusually sunny and blue November sky, where she made her way over to Xiamen's Wuyuan Bay Marina. Boats 7 to 14 are currently being built and will follow early in the new year.
